Giannini composed his Piano Concerto in 1934; its premiere took place in New York City in 1937, performed by the 22 year old Rosalyn Tureck.
Giannini composed a total of seven symphonies. Number 4 was written in 1959; the first performance was conducted by the dedicatee, Jean Morel, with the Juilliard Orchestra in May of that year.
